Major Focus AreasThe focus of the Nursing Management Track will be to prepare the graduate to plan, design, implement and evaluate health and nursing care delivery programs within clinical agencies. Additionally, students will work with clinical agencies to develop policies and procedures that ensure high quality clinical care, provide a satisfying and meaningful working environment, and ensure fiscal viability. Graduates will be prepared to evaluate the implications of the changing demographic profile of the local community, the region and nation and to design health care programs that address cultural competency and needs of varied generations. Informatics content will focus on clinical decision making to improve patient safety and quality of care, and on administrative decision making to improve the quality of the work environment. Advanced nursing management skills are required to design clinical programs that best respond to population needs that result from poverty, low levels of education, and presence of acute and chronic illnesses and that optimize use of the nursing workforce to meet the needs of multi-cultural populations. |
