Admission Requirements for the D.N.P. Program

  • Master's degree in nursing from a nationally accredited program 
  • Graduate grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 grading scale
  • Satisfactory scores on the Graduate Record Examination (Minimum scores of 500 on the Verbal and Quantitative portions are preferred. Analytical Writing scores are evaluated individually.) 
  • Evidence of scholarly writing in the written goal statement (See D.N.P. program application for details.)
  • Three references (forms provided) attesting to the applicants' expertise in nursing or health care
  • Licensure to practice in Kentucky or in the state in which clinicals will occur (prerequisite to clinical experience)
  • Interview with D.N.P. faculty
  • Clinical practice hours as demonstrated by certification in an advanced practice nursing specialty, or previous graduate level course work (Applicants who cannot demonstrate a minimum of 460 clinical clock hours of practice will be expected to complete clinical course work beyond the proposed curriculum.)
  • Applicants with unique credentials will be considered on an individual basis.
