College of Nursing Undergraduate Scholarship/Financial Awards
In addition to the
many University scholarships, the College of Nursing has several
scholarships available to students indicating an interest in
nursing as a major. These scholarships illustrate the support
extended by alumni, friends, professional and community
institutions associated with the College. Funds for awards vary
according to the support and specifications of each
scholarship/financial award. Awards are for one year only and
students must reapply each year to receive a scholarship.
Scholarship applicants must meet the minimum requirements for
admission to the College of Nursing. The student must be in good
academic standing and factors such as extracurricular
activities, work experience, awards and recognition, community
involvement, recommendations and/or a personal essay are
considered. Interviews may be requested.
Scholarship/Financial Award Committees will review applications
for the appropriate scholarship based on the applicant’s
qualifications and specifications of the scholarship/financial
award. The amount of scholarship awards, when added to other
sources of financial aid, may not exceed the total annual cost
of attendance as determined by the Office of Student Financial
Aid. Application notification is sent to enrolled and
applying students in early spring. Award recipients are
notified in June or July before the new academic year begins.
For scholarships that require an essay, please attach a
single-page, double-spaced, typed essay of no more than two or
three paragraphs in length to the application form. The essay
should describe your interest, commitment, and involvement as
indicated in the scholarship criteria.
