Kentucky Medicaid Program Approved State Registered Nurse Aide Training Program - now open to the public!

In just a few weeks, you can earn a certificate as a Kentucky Medicaid Program Approved State Registered Nurse Aide. First preference is given to students accepted to the College of Nursing program for the upcoming semester. Remaining spots are offered to the public.

Register early
Classes fill quickly. Students missing the first class will lose their spot in the class. If a class is filled and you'd like to be put on our waiting list, please contact Melissa Bolin at
melissa.bolin@uky.edu.

Registration is not considered complete until payment is made in full. That means if you have not paid for the course you are not guaranteed a spot in the class.

Upcoming Class

*New class* Oct. 26, 2009- Nov. 24, 2009  Registration is open.

Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 5- 9 p.m.
(We will have class on Wed., Nov.18, to finish the class before Thanksgiving.)
Clinical days on Nov. 14 and 21, 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. (mandatory)

*New class* Holiday Break Class  Registration is open.

Holiday class schedule: Dec. 7, 15, 28, 29, and Jan. 4-5; 7a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
Clinical days on Jan. 7 and 8, 7a.m.-3 p.m.

CPR and State Competency Test Dates are not included in the dates above, however, they are usually held in close proximity to the class dates. Students will receive information on the first day of class. 

 

This class is very intensive and there is no time to make up missed course time, therefore, attendance is mandatory for all classes and clinicals.

Cost and Refund Policy
The $642 cost for the course includes:

  •  $502 tuition

  •  $75 state test fee

  •  $65 BSL fee (For those who do not have current American Heart Association BSL for the health care professional certification - required for applicants to the College of Nursing Program. Red Cross certification does not qualify.)

Credit card, check, cash or money order all accepted. Make checks payable to UK College of Nursing - S.R.N.A.. Any applicant who drops the class at least seven days prior to the first day of class will receive a refund minus a $50 handling fee. No refunds are given within seven days of the beginning of the course.

Tuberculosis Screening Requirement
Provide verification of a current (less than one year old) tuberculosis screening by a PPD skin test, or chest X-ray only if you have a positive PPD. You may be able to obtain this at your local health department.

Social Security Card Required
You must have a valid Social Security card (cannot be laminated) to take the state competency certification exam.

Student Responsibilities

  • transportation to the class and clinical site

  • purchase of textbook and clinical supplies; list including prices here.
  • attend all class sessions including clinicals
