College of Nursing
faculty members want to help you develop a sense of
professionalism that extends beyond your usual clinical course
work. One of the ways we do this is by offering you the
opportunity to become involved in one or more specialty interest
groups.
Would you like to share ideas with future colleagues and learn
from national leaders in that specialty? We have ongoing interest
groups in cardiovascular disease, diabetes, leadership, and
oncology.
Guest speakers, usually nurse researchers, share their
expertise at quarterly dinner meeting events. The dinners are
industry- and/or College-sponsored. Interested students, community
practitioners, and faculty are invited.
With membership in an interest group you will:
-
Learn how important life-long learning is to the nursing
profession
- Learn to model professional nursing behaviors
- Enhance your understanding of research and how it affects
practice
- Learn about roles of advanced practice nurses and be
encouraged to consider graduate studies
