Failure to Rescue


Purpose:
This course will discuss the definition of failure to rescue, what contributes to the frequency of failure to rescue, and the role of medical emergency teams. 


Objectives:

  • Define failure to rescue.

  • Identify two contributing factors to failure to rescue.

  • Describe the role of medical emergency teams related to failure to rescue.

Target Audience: All nurses, particularly emergency and critical care nurses

Faculty: Zebuline Koran, D.N.P., R.N., is a clinical nurse specialist with the emergency department at Sherman Hospital, Elgin, Ill. Koran received her D.N.P. from the University of Kentucky College of Nursing.

Accreditation: The University of Kentucky College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

The Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) approves the University of Kentucky College of Nursing as a provider as well. KBN and ANCC approval of an individual continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content for commercial support. This educational activity will provide a maximum of 1.2 KBN (50 minute) contact hours and 1ANCC (60 minute) contact hours for nurses who attend the entire program. Provider #:
