Diabetes Management

Purpose: Provide a diabetes update

Objectives:

  • Discuss the pathogenesis associated with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes mellitus.

  • Discuss the predisposing factors in the development of diabetes.

  • Describe the various diagnostic studies specific to diabetes.

  • Discuss the various classifications of diabetes.

  • Differentiate between the signs and symptoms of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Accreditation: The University of Kentucky College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC).

The Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) approves the University of Kentucky College of Nursing as a provider as well. KBN and ANCC approval of an individual continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content for commercial support. This educational activity will provide a maximum of 1.2 KBN (50 minute) contact hours and 1ANCC (60 minute) contact hours for nurses who attend the entire program. Provider #:
