4th Annual Nurse Faculty Development Workshop:
Evidence-based Teaching

Description: This two-day intensive course will provide cutting-edge information to empower nursing faculty who teach in all areas including associate degree and  baccalaureate nursing programs, staff educators, and  preceptors. Participants will examine designs for student success involving intergenerational and internationally sensitive issues and techniques. You will meet exciting and motivating faculty who are experienced in teaching and increase your confidence in providing quality nursing education in a progressive field.
Topics include:
Where is the Evidence for What We Do As Teachers?; Quality Safety Education for Nursing; Current Trends and Issues in Nursing Education; Education Across Generations; Team Building and Managing Large Groups and Part-time Faculty; New Initiatives in Nursing Education; Orientation for International Students; and Accreditation.

Objectives:

  • Examine national trends in nursing education

  • Evaluate the evidence for teaching methods

  • Assess quality in nursing education

  • Discuss team-building for clinical teaching

  • Employ inter-generational techniques

  • Illustrate international student orientation

  • Design significant learning experiences

Target audience: Nurses who would like to enhance their teaching skills in clinical or academic settings

The Kentucky Board of Nursing (KBN) approves the University of Kentucky College of Nursing as a provider as well. KBN and ANCC approval of an individual continuing nursing education provider does not constitute endorsement of program content for commercial support. This educational activity will provide a maximum of
13.8 ANCC (60 minute) and 11.5 KBN (50 minute contact hours for nurses who attend the entire program. Provider #: 3-0008-01-13-007.  A certificate will be issued to participants after the course.
