White Coat Ceremony and Luncheon
The College of Nursing Alumni Association sponsored its fall
2009 White Coat Ceremony in October. Soon-to-be graduates enjoyed lunch with
College of Nursing alumni, and heard congratulatory remarks from Dean Kirschling and Ginny Kolter, president of the College of Nursing Alumni Association. Following lunch, each student received a white coat with
an embroidered College of Nursing logo compliments of the CONAA.
Established in 2006, it has become a much anticipated event for both students and alumni.

Celebrating the Future of Nursing Scholarship Banquet
Donors who have established endowments or are currently providing scholarships for students joined us
in September 2009 for our
second annual Scholarship Reception and Brunch. This event allows us to celebrate nursing’s future with donors, their families and those who benefit from their generosity. The event
was hosted by the University of Kentucky College of Nursing and emeritae
faculty. |

Nurse Step Out Brunch and Fashion Show
The Sixth Annual Nurses Step Out Brunch and Fashion Show was held in June at the Boone Center. Guests enjoyed shopping with a variety of vendors including Silpata Silver, Beijo Bags, Southern Living at Home and All About Embroidery. The
fashion show was a huge hit with current College of Nursing students modeling fashions provided by Dillard’s. Proceeds from this event provide support for future alumni association programming such as the White Coat Ceremony,
homecoming and reunion events and the gifts given to each student at Pinning Ceremony.

Day at the Races with UK and UL Nurses
Dean Jane Kirschling, UK College of Nursing, and Dean Marcia Hern, U of L
School of Nursing, hosted a Day at the Races for alumni and friends of their respective programs in April. There were equal amounts of UK blue and UL red at the event as guests enjoyed the traditional lunch menu in the Phoenix Room at Keeneland Race Track
and a beautiful day at the races.
