BOTULINUM TREATMENT

The Botulinum Toxin (Botox) Treatment Clinic at the University of Kentucky began in 1989. The Neurologists have extensive experience with treating a wide range of conditions with botulinum toxin, in particular spasmotic torticollis (cervical dystonia). This therapeutic modality has been employed for blepharospasm, spastic dysphonia, limb dystonias, "writer's cramp", achalasia, and spastic disorders. Electromyographic guidance is available to aid in localization of the problem and treatment.

In addition, Botox has recently been shown to be beneficial for difficult- to- treat headache and neck pain syndromes, and is one of the therapeutic modalities used for headache prevention at the UK Headache Clinic.
