Stipends

• PGY-1: $47,411.00
• PGY-2: $48,923.00
• PGY-3: $50,629.00
• PGY-4: $52,236.00

Vacation

• Two weeks of vacation during the first year
• Three weeks of vacation after the first year
• Four holiday bonus days in late December or early January
• Eight university holidays
• Every resident receives a reading week each year

Maternity/paternity leave

• Maternity: 30 working days
• Paternity: 30 working days

By using accrued vacation time, residents are able to take adequate maternity/paternity leave. In accordance with the ABIM and ABP policies, residents must complete 22 months of training in Internal Medicine and 22 months of training in Pediatrics to meet the requirements for board certification.

Parking

Parking Permit "E" parking area (Covered parking garage adjacent to the Veterans Affairs facility and uncovered parking area immediately in front of the Kentucky Clinic)

Lab Coats

Three lab coats provided prior to each year of training.

Education Fund

• Internal Medicine provides $1800 over the course of training
• Pediatrics provides $2200 over the course of training
• Pediatrics provides copies of Harriet Lane Handbook, Zitelli's Atlas of Pediatrics,
and Nelson's Textbook of Pediatrics over the course of training.

Kentucky Medical Licensure

All PGY-2's and above must be licensed by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure before beginning their training. The original cost and yearly renewals are paid for by the University of Kentucky.

Health Insurance

Everyone pays for the employer portion of health benefits for single coverage (resident only). Other plans including family coverage are also available. For more information, please contact the GME office for a "Benefits Booklet".

Disability Insurance

Effective after 12 full calendar months of service.

Life Insurance

$10,000 provided at no cost. Optional additional insurance is available at a low cost for coverage up to three times your annual salary.

Meal Discounts

Residents receive monthly stipends for meals.

Individual Beeper

All residents are provided with a pager.
