Staff who enter orders in Patient Care (aka, Clinipac) have to take Patient Care Order Entry and Patient Care Order Entry Certification classes. The registration and attendance for this class is coordinated through the Nursing Recruitment Office.
The students are required to take 3 different classes consecutively to have access to Order Entry System:
Patient
Care Basic Class
Prerequisite: Scheduling done by Nursing Recruitment Office
Content: Students learn the basics of Clerical principles and duties.
Patient
Care (Clinipac) Order Entry

Prerequisite: Patient Care Basic Class. Staff can only be registered through the Nursing Recruitment Office.
Content: Students learn Patient Management inquiry functions and how to enter all types of Patient Care (Clinipac) orders, including radiology, nuclear medicine, respiratory therapy, dietetics, physical therapy, and more. Students learn how to display, modify, discontinue, hold, and resume orders.
Access: The students are not given access until after they have completed the Order Entry Certification Class.

Prerequisite: Must take the Order Entry Class first
Content: Students are tested on their order entry skills. They must score 90 percent or above to pass the test. If they pass the test, they will be given access to Order Entry functions in Patient Care (Clinipac). Students who fail the test, may take the test again. For students who fail, we strongly encourage them to repeat the class as well as the test. The trainer will contact the supervisor of any student who fails the test to discuss options for repeating classes to get the student up to the required competency level.
Access: Each student receives access to Patient Care Order Entry functions within 2 days of successful completion of the certification.
