  1. What is NetLearning?

NetLearning is a Web-based program that allows UK Hospital employees the capability of completing certain learning modules on the computer and registering for classes offered by Staff Education. In addition, employees may view and/or print a transcript of classes or computer-based modules that they have completed.  Return to top of page.

  1. What do I need to get to NetLearning?

You will need to be able to use a computer that has access to the Internet and an Internet browser, such as Internet Explorer (version of 5.5 or higher) or a version of NetScape (version 4.5 or higher) that is comparable. Net Learning may be accessed here at UK Hospital or at your home if you have internet access. Just be sure that your browser is the correct version.  Return to top of page.

  1. What if my browser is not 5.5 or higher?

The NetLearning program may or may not appear on your computer screen. If it does, then there still may be glitches in getting the program to operate correctly.  High security settings on your browser may prevent usage of Net Learning.  Return to top of page.

If the computer you are using is at the Hospital, and you need an upgrade to Internet Explorer, call the MCIS Help Desk at 3-8586 and request an upgrade. Be sure to tell them that the upgrade is needed to support NetLearning.

  2. Can I access Net Learning from home if I have internet access?

You can access it from home as long as you meet the minimum browser requirements.  Further, you may have to adjust the browser's security settings.  If they are too high you will not be able to access Net Learning.  Also, you must enable Pop-ups from the Net Learning site or the login screen will not open.

  1. How do I take courses through NetLearning?

The first screen in NetLearning is the CBLs To Do screen. This screen lists any Computer-based Learning Modules (CBL) that you have been assigned to complete. These courses are ones that all UK Hospital employees must complete annually to be in compliance with OSHA, JCAHO, or other mandates. Once assigned, these courses will stay in your box until you have taken the CBL. These courses automatically will reappear in your CBLs To Do usually sometime in November.  They are to be completed each year by the middle of May as the fiscal year goes from July 1 through June 30.

To take a CBL course, click on the title of the course you wish to take.

Follow the directions given with each course as it starts. Completion of these courses will require successful completion of a post-test. Once you have successfully completed the course, it will be recorded on your transcript.  Return to top of page.

  1. The CBLs are difficult to read because of their size.
How do I make the CBL courses appear bigger on the screen
    ?

Go to a blank area on your desktop and single right click on it.  Left click
on Properties. Click on the Settings tab.  In the screen area portion of that
window, move the arrow bar to where the pixels are set to 800 x 600.  Click on Apply; click OK.  This will increase the appearance of the CBLs to make them easier to read.  You may want to reset the pixels to their original setting after you are finished using the Net Learning CBLs.

  1. What if no CBL courses appear in the box, or I wish to take other courses that are offered on NetLearning?

Click on the button at the left of the page that says Enroll in CBL. The Enroll in a CBL Course page will show in alphabetical order all the other CBL courses that are available that are not on your CBLs To Do page.  Be sure the curriculum is set on "View all" at the top of the page.  Then click on the title of the CBL you wish to take. This will automatically begin the CBL and also place it on your CBL's To Do List.  Return to top of page.

  1. What if I would like to check out classes that are being offered by Staff Education, or Nursing Staff Development?

Click on the button to the left of the page that says Enroll in Class. The Enroll in Class page will show a listing of classes offered by Staff Education, MCIS, or Nursing Staff Development. This list is ordered by date.  To see all the classes, be sure the Curriculum is set on "View All".  Date ranges for classes may be adjusted as you wish.

When you find the class that you would like to register for, click on the title of the class.  This will automatically enroll you in that class and you will be taken to the class schedule.  There you can see all the information concerning that class.  If you mistakenly enrolled a wrong class, or want to un-enroll, click on the "x" in the un-enroll column.
Return to top of page

  1. What if I would like to look at the list of the classes that I have enrolled in?

Click on the My Schedule button to see the list of classes for which I am enrolled. This page also will allow you to drop courses.
Return to top of page.

  1. What if I would like to see a listing of what I have taken or attended through NetLearning?

Click on the Transcript button to the left of the page. This will bring up a date ordered listing of all CBLs or classes that I have taken through NetLearning.

You can print a copy of this by clicking the Print Transcript button.  A copy of your transcript will print to the printer that is connected to your computer.  Return to top of page.

  1. How do I exit NetLearning?

Click the Exit button to the left of the page. Then on the next page click on the words Exit the Student Interface. You will then need to close out or exit your Web browser Internet connection.  Return to top of page.

Return to home page.
