Orientation:
All UKHealthCare employees are
required to
attend this 1 1/2 day long orientation within 30 days of hire.
The session begins with the registration process at 1:15pm. The
official training session will begin at 1:30pm. UKHealthCare Orientation is designed to welcome new employees and
provide an overview of the UKHealthCare Mission, Vision and Values.
Health Care orientation is tailored to fulfilled basic new employee staff
education requirements established by the Joint Commission. Drinks
will be provided on Monday, breakfast and lunch will be provided on
Tuesday.
Supervisors must register
their new employees online by 12:00 pm on the Thursday prior
to Orientation. Click

Employees will be able to park at the Boone Center during UKHealthCare
Orientation. However, if the new employee has already obtained an
E permit, we advise they park in an appropriate E parking lot garage.
Space at the Boone Center is limited. E parking is available
nearby at the Rose Street Parking Structure (#2) and behind the W.
T. Young Library.

University Orientation: All
University of Kentucky employees are required to attend University New
Employee Orientation. It is highly recommended that this
orientation be attended on the employee's first day on the job.
The session begins with the registration process at 7:45. The
official training sessions will be 8:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. During
this session, you will receive information pertaining to your benefits,
University policies, and an overview of campus.
Supervisors must register their
new employees online by 3:00 pm on the Wednesday prior to

HIPAA Education
Federal regulations of the Health Insurance Portability
Accountability Act require the basic training in the requirements of this
act for all employees, students, volunteers, and other associates of the
University of Kentucky Medical Center.
All staff can access HIPAA
web-based training modules (WBT) on the LSO system. See

for Enrollment Instructions. All new Hospital employees should complete the
HIPAA - New Hire Training within their first ninety (90) days of
employment (per Hospital Policy). HIPAA Education is organized
according to an employee's position within the Medical Center. Refer to
your department manager to determine the level of training required for each
employee.

Spanish
for the Health Care Provider: Beginning and Intermediate
These 15 week courses teach beginning
or intermediate Spanish language skills. Classes meet
once per week. The class application form should be completed and
submitted to the Learning Center by no later than
August 26, 2011.
Applications may be picked up in the Learning Center, Room H31 in the
basement of the hospital, or you can click on the link to print a copy
of the form (pdf format).

Non-Violent Physical
Crisis Intervention
This course is required for certain
staff who work in the Emergency Department, Psychiatric Unit, and
Security. There are eight-hour certification courses and four-hour
re-certification courses offered periodically throughout the year.

Through this newly developed Resource Library employees (at all levels) are able
to borrow materials on leadership, customer service, training and much, much
more. The Library is housed in H31a, but you don't have to come down to
the basement to see what we have! Simply click on this link:
