Originally from Tuscumbia, Alabama. Marilyn graduated from the University of North Alabama with a degree in Business Management. She came to Kentucky to visit her sister in 1988, and after almost 19 years, she still feels she is visiting.

Marilyn worked in the Gatton College of Business for 18 years (12 years as the Academic Advisor for the MBA program and 6 years as an Academic Advisor for the undergraduate program) before joining the College of Health Sciences in June as an Academic Advisor. She is married with one son, Malik, who is 10 years old.
