Cynthia Byars
Assistant to Charlotte Peterson, Ph. D., Associate Dean for Research Office of Research
In her role as Grant Support Specialist, Cynthia provides direct assistance to Dr. Charlotte Peterson, CHS Associate Dean for Research, and helps coordinate special research projects for the college. Her appreciation for the health sciences is a result of athletic and personal experience; allied health professionals are able to significantly impact the lives of those with limited function – whether due to illness or injury.
Cynthia is originally from the great state of Virginia (Fairfax) where life evolved into competitive gymnastics. Once a member of the Puerto Rico National Gymnastics Team, she carved a path to The Ohio State University as a member of their gymnastics program and to pursue a business /marketing degree & exercise science minor. She then made her way to Florida for a new career endeavor, and in 2009, she relocated to Kentucky. She is married to a Lexington native and former UK Wildcat and enjoys spending time with her husband and son. She is an exercise enthusiast with a deep appreciation for the arts, creativity, and all things enterprising. Professionally, she enjoys collaborating with other University of Kentucky colleges and centers regarding research initiatives, as well as, interacting with project investigators, which always keeping things interesting.
