The impact of cognitive deficits on communication in individuals with acquired brain injury with a particular interest in the validity of treating attention and memory deficits as a means for improving proficiency of conversational discourse in this population.
Dr. Youse's research investigates the impact of cognitive deficits on communication in individuals with acquired brain injury (ABI) with a particular interest in the validity of treating attention and memory deficits as a means for improving proficiency of conversational discourse in this population. She has extensive clinical experience with individuals who have ABI and has worked in several well respected medical institutions including Moss Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia, The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut.
Currently, Dr. Youse is collaborating with Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, in Lexington, Kentucky, to investigate treatment options for individuals with ABI. She also maintains collaboration with Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut, on a long term project to determine outcomes resulting from an integrated outpatient rehabilitation program for individuals with ABI.
