Lexington, Ky. – Oct. 24, 2008 – In celebration of Allied Health Week 2008, the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences will host an informational exhibition to commemorate the week on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Each of the college’s programs will exhibit educational display boards to provide information about the nine disciplines the college offers.
The College of Health Sciences will
begin festivities at 10 a.m. on Nov. 5 in the Thomas C. Robinson
Commons room located in the Wethington Building, and will
conclude at 2 p.m. the same day. Every student from the
college will be encouraged to visit the displays during the
exhibition.
“We want to provide an
interdisciplinary experience for the college’s students that
will be social, yet educational, and will include all allied
health professions,” said Allison Horseman, public relations and
marketing coordinator for the college.
Students will be given a card to
stamp at each display once they enter the exhibition. If a
student collects nine stamps, then their name will go into a
drawing for a chance to win great prizes. In addition, the
College of Health Sciences will provide refreshments throughout
the event.
Allied Health Week was established to
honor and celebrate the role of allied health practitioners
because they support the role of physicians and greatly
influence health care delivery. Allied health
practitioners support, facilitate, and complement the roles of
physicians and other health care specialists which emphasize the
strengths of all health professions.
To keep the theme of Allied Health
week going strong, the College of Health Sciences plans to honor
its students because they are gaining and retaining the highest
level of health for their communities. By providing an
interdisciplinary setting for students and faculty during events
like Allied Health Week, the College of Health Sciences will
continue to provide innovative allied health practitioners and
remain on the cutting edge of the profession.
