Volunteers Needed for a Home Auditory Training Study
Researchers at the University of Kentucky, College of Health Sciences are conducting a research study to measure the benefit of an auditory training program that can be used at home with your television to help improve listening for adults with hearing aids. Since some hearing aid users are not satisfied with their current hearing aids, this training may be a useful way to help improve how well they understand speech in noise. Initial and follow-up testing occurs over 4 visits (about 1- 2 hours each) and training at home will occur over 4 weeks, but can be done at your convenience.
You may be able to participate if you:
- Are an adult with hearing loss who is a new or experienced hearing aid user
- Are between 50-79 years of age
- Have adequate vision to see and operate a television and remote control
- Have no history of neurological or psychiatric disorder
If you meet these qualifications for the study, please contact Anne Olson, investigator and research coordinator, at (859) 218-0572 or aolso2@uky.edu.

UK Community Invited to View Fireworks From Parking Garage
University of Kentucky Parking & Transportation Services (PTS) will host its annual fireworks viewing in conjunction with Lexington's July 4th celebration on the top deck of Parking Structure #5 (located on South Limestone, next to Kennedy Book Store).
Any member of the University of Kentucky community possessing a valid UK parking permit may park in the structure free of charge to view the fireworks from the upper level.
"PTS is glad that Parking Structure #5 provides such a great view of the fireworks in such a family-friendly environment," said Don Thornton, director of Parking & Transportation Services. "We are pleased to be able to offer this unique opportunity for members of the UK community, which allows them to avoid downtown traffic."
Gates to the parking garage will open at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 4, and will close a half hour after the conclusion of the fireworks display. The top deck lights will be turned off during the display for enhanced viewing.
Patrons are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs, and food and drink are permitted. Portable restroom facilities and trash receptacles will be provided.
