LEARNING Outcomes Initiative WorkshopRepresentatives from the University’s Office of Assessment, under the Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, will be providing an overview of the LEARNING outcomes initiative, steps along the process, clear expectations of program engagement, and best practices/lessons learned with CHS faculty. WHAT: Student LEARNING Assessment Workshop The workshop will be broken into two parts: Please R.S.V.P. directly to Rena Murphy by March 2nd. Breakfast will be served.
DEADLINE APPROACHING - Parking Permit RenewalParking and Transportation is encouraging employees to apply for their renewal permit using the parking Web site at www.uky.edu/Parking. Parking application cards will not be sent; however, if you need an actual card, please contact Allison Horseman at ext. 80563. Permits must be renewed no later than March 2, 2009. An instruction sheet can be accessed here. PT Career Fair on FridayNearly 50 companies will be attending the PT Career Fair on Friday, February 27 from 9:30 to noon. Most of the facilities attending the fair provide clinical education for our PT students and this is one way that we try to express our thanks to them. There are also a few companies attending who are not affiliated with our clinical education program. Many of the participating facilities will stay for lunch in the Commons, and will then conduct interviews during the afternoon with the PT students who will be graduating in 2009. The Career Fair will occupy the first and second floors of the CTW Building, including the Commons and the student lounge. We expect to have about 140 PT students taking advantage of this opportunity to learn about the PT job opportunities that will greet them when they become licensed physical therapists.
Cycle4SundayDustin Jones, a CHS Physical Therapy student, and his classmates are coordinating a charitable bicycle tour. The tour will benefit Surgery on Sunday, a local non-profit organization that provides outpatient surgical services for income-eligible individuals and families from Kentucky who do not have health insurance and are not eligible for federal or state programs. Dustin and his classmates are looking for sponsors for their ride. Visit the Cycle4Sunday site to find out more. Faculty Committee Nominations SoughtFaculty Council is accepting self-nominations for committee vacancies for the 2009-2010 academic year. Please consider volunteering for a committee and submitting your name for nomination. You may find more information about any committee you are interested in serving on in the CHS Faculty Handbook or you may talk with a member of the current Faculty Council for details. Please take a few minutes to fill out the self-nomination form and to return the form via e-mail to Richie Andreatta (richard.andreatta@uky.edu) or Gerry Gairola (gagair01@email.uky.edu) or by campus mail to 120-F Wethington. E-mail or send your form in by Wednesday, March 4th, 2009.
