Back to Top Linda Allen Named Red Cross Hero of the YearLinda Allen, staff person in the CHS Office of Student Affairs, has been named the 2013 Hero of the Year by the Red Cross Bluegrass Chapter. Linda was the nominee of UK HealthCare and her selection was announced at a dinner at the Griffin Gate Marriott on Thursday, May 16. She was among 10 nominees in the Bluegrass region and was selected for her extensive volunteer work with nursing homes for the mentally ill in Cynthiana. More information is soon to come. Back to Top Bob Marshall Honored by Stroke AssociationThe Kentucky and Southern Indiana Stroke Association will honor Dr. Bob Marshall at its upcoming Extravaganza Tasting Event. The event will feature food and wine from Kentuckiana's premier restaurants and chefs. The purpose of the sampling event is to raise funds for stroke awareness and education. See a flier here. Back to Top CHS 2013-2014 Educational Enhancement Grants AwardedThe purpose of the Educational
Enhancement Grants is to “provide CHS faculty with resources to support the
development and implementation of innovative and educational initiatives to
improve student learning.” These Grants provide up to $3,000 to conduct
the projects. At the conclusion of the project period, awardees provide a
written report of project outcomes that will be posted on the Academic Affairs
website. The awardees for 2013-2014 are as follows:

The College is going live with the online time entry process effective
immediately. Online time entry applies to all employees, excluding
STEPS/Temporary Employment and Federal Work Study and is done through MyUK. To help with this transition
there will be several trainings. Trainings are not mandatory but are highly
recommended.

Applications are now being accepted for the University of Kentucky
Women’s Forum Employee Educational
Assistance Award. The deadline for employee-students enrolled in the summer
semesters is May 17 for Summer Session I and June 7 for Summer Session II. The awards entail a $250 reimbursement to eligible UK
employees to assist with the cost of books and/or other materials, supplies and
fees related to their UK coursework, complementing the existing tuition waiver
program (Employee Education Program, EEP) for UK employees.

the EEAA for summer sessions 2013. Eligibility requirements include: ·
Applicants must be regular full-time employees (0.75 FTE and
greater) ·
Applicants must have submitted an EEP form ·
Applicants must be currently enrolled in UK classes, excluding
independent study program courses ·
Previously enrolled students are required to have a cumulative
grade point average of 2.0 or better. First-time college enrollees are
encouraged to apply. ·
Applicants are required to take all courses for a letter grade
unless the course is offered only as pass/fail. Employees taking classes through EEP at any educational
institution aside from the University of Kentucky cannot be considered for this
award. The UK Women’s Forum Educational Assistance Award is a
competition in which applications will be evaluated and ranked by committee
members. The decisions of the selection committee UK Women’s Forum Board are ineligible for awards. |
