The annual Physical Therapy Career Fair will be held on Friday, Feb. 22 from
9:30-12:00 in the CTW Building throughout the first and second floors.
There will be 48 physical therapy companies and healthcare facilities in
attendance. Most of these facilities provide clinical education to
CHS PT students. During the afternoon the third year PT students
will interview with facilities of their choosing. For more information contact

leslie.simpson2@uky.edu or 218-0591. Gilson Capilouto will lead an education abroad trip to Israel May 7-31. Clinical Experience in Communication Sciences and Disorders in Israel will expose students to healthcare delivery in Israel as it relates to speech-language-hearing services. The Association of
Schools of Allied Health Professions (ASAHP) will provide in 2013 up to $15,000 in seed money for one new
interdisciplinary research project that focuses on health and rehabilitation.
The aims of the project and the investigators who work on it must represent more
than one discipline (from within or external to a specific university). More
information is posted under the heading Interdisciplinary Research Award in the Breaking News section in the middle column of the
homepage at www.asahp.org. One item in the program description that appears on the
homepage needs to be changed. Applications should NOT be sent to anybody at
the ASAHP office. Instead, ALL INQUIRIES AND APPLICATIONS should be sent to
the grant review chairperson: Christopher Ingersoll at
c.d.ingersoll@cmich.edu. The deadline for applying is March 15, 2013. Priorities for the Research Award are as follows: Position new scholars to seek larger extramural
grants.
Align with priorities of leading extramural
agencies (e.g., NIH, AHRQ, CDC).
Address translational, outcomes, and comparative
effectiveness research.
The Hall of Fame and Student Recognition
Dinner will be held on Thursday, March 21st at Baptist Health (formerly Central
Baptist Hospital) Education Center. Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the

The University of Kentucky Program in Communication Sciences & Disorders is currently undergoing an accreditation review by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and will host a site visit with a CAA site visit team on February 21 & 22, 2013. As a part of the accreditation review, the Communication Sciences & Disorders Program will hold an open, public meeting on February 21st at 4:15 p.m. in Room 127 (“Commons”) of the Charles T. Wethington Building located at 900 S. Limestone Street on UK’s campus. This event allows for public comment about the program. We encourage all interested individuals to attend. preparing their 2013-2014 Distribution of Effort Forms. All faculty should have
received an email with the DOE Memo outlining the timeline (PDF) and
Instructions for the DOE Calculation Worksheet (PDF). New faculty members should
download a blank DOE Calculation Worksheet from the link below. Returning
faculty members should use the final copy of the work sheet provided to your
division directors last year and make corrections/updates as necessary. The forms will also be located on the
Academic

The Fourth Annual Conference on Meeting the Therapy Needs of Infants, Toddlers
and Children with Disabilities in Rural Communities will be held on Saturday,
March 9 at CHS. This conference focuses on serving the needs of rural
occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech-language pathologists
who desire increased competency in the provision of evidence-based practice
service delivery and increased understanding of diversity issues for infants,
toddlers and children with disabilities in early intervention or school-based
settings. The major focus of this conference is on the
intersection of Policy, Advocacy, and the Best Practice of Related Services
Personnel. A summary and the specific objectives for each session are
provided in the conference schedule.
