Back to Top Brian Noehren to Collaborate on NSF GrantCongratulations to Dr. Brian Noehren, who
is a Co-Investigator on a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant recently
awarded to the College of Engineering. Dr. Noehren will collaborate with
Ruigang Yang, Principal Investigator (Engineering) and Rob Shapiro,
Co-Investigator (Education). The team will develop and apply a single camera
system to record 3D motion that will be used in clinical populations studied in
the lab. This could have a transformative effect on the ability to quantify
movement impairments in the clinic. In addition it would open up the
availability of technology to rural hospitals and clinics rather than
predominantly large institutions (i.e. UK). The 3-year grant will begin
October 1st. Total project award is approximately $565,300 ($396,000
in direct costs & $169,000 in indirect costs). Dr. Gilson Capilouto has received a 1 year NIH grant, along with her collaborator, to create a unique database of cognitive and discourse data derived from the funded project, R01 AG029476: “Discourse Processing in Healthy Aging”. The database will include demographic data, cognitive data, digital media (audio and/or video, and discourse transcriptions for 11 different discourse tasks from nearly 500 participants across the adult lifespan (20 – 90 years old). Data will be made available through the National Archive of Computerized Data on Aging (NACDA).
