Undergraduate Research Students May Still Submit to KaleidoscopeThe Office of Undergraduate Research is preparing to publish its annual 2012 issue of Kaleidoscope, a UK Journal of Undergraduate Scholarship (refereed and published online). It is not too late for students to submit; the final deadline is June 18. To review the submission guidelines or to submit an article please click here. Back to TopUndergraduate Research Enhancement Awards AvailableThe CHS Office of Research is pleased to announce the availability of Undergraduate Research Enhancement Awards (UREAs) for faculty mentoring undergraduates in research. Four UREAs of $500 each are available for Fall 2012. PIs could, for example, use these funds to provide students with a small stipend, support student travel to present undergraduate research work, or to purchase lab supplies necessary for their respective research programs. To apply for an award, please send an email to Cynthia Byars with a brief description of your work with undergraduates as well as a breakdown of how you plan to use the award. The deadline for applications is August 1, 2012. Applications will be reviewed by committee and awards will be announced by September 1. MarshallAphasiology, an International, Interdisciplinary Journal has dedicated its May 2012 edition to our very own Dr. Robert C. Marshall. Aphasiology includes papers on clinical, psychological, linguistic, social and neurological perspectives of aphasia. Studies using a wide range of empirical methods, including experimental, clinical and single case studies, surveys and physical investigations are published in addition to regular features including major reviews, clinical fora, case studies, and book reviews. Dr. Marshall's former students contributed to the May edition. Back to TopMichael Cooper Awarded "Poster of Distinction"Michael Cooper recently co-presented a poster at the American Transplant Congress in Boston titled Peri-operative challenges and long term outcomes in liver transplantation for polycystic liver disease.
