applications for students interested in joining the College of Health
Sciences Ambassadors. This is a select group of
students who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in academics and
student leadership. The College of Health Sciences Ambassadors serve the
college and assist with student recruitment, speak to community and
university groups, plan social, philanthropic and educational activities for
peers, and represent the college at receptions and meetings. To be eligible, students must be
formally accepted into their respective program and have a minimum 3.0
cumulative GPA. Other requirements are noted within the online
application. To apply, students must visit the

Dr. Jane Kleinert in CSD has been invited to be
an expert panel member to the National Council on Disability’s “Raising
Expectations: A Disability Framework for Education Reform” – on March 26-27,
2012 in Orlando, FL. The National Council on Disability (NCD) is an
independent federal agency charged with providing advice to Congress and the
President. Dr. Kleinert will serve on the work group concerning Common Core
and Access to the General Curriculum PT Student to represent KY at Federal Advocacy ForumDaniel Brown, Physical Therapy class of 2013, was selected to represent Kentucky at the American Physical Therapy's Federal Advocacy Forum. Daniel will receive $500 in scholarship from the Kentucky Physical Therapy Association to attend the conference. Congratulations to Daniel! The College of Health Sciences is implementing
and requesting those submitting a proposal to have the eIAF completed an
additional one week in advance before it is due to OSPA. This will
allow time for anyone affiliated with the proposal to review and certify the

method created by Eric Mazur to help make lectures more interactive and to
get students intellectually engaged. This method of teaching also gives

Yarrison, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, UK Program for Bioethics Donation after cardiac death (DCD) has become a
widespread practice in the last decade but remains controversial. In this
presentation, Dr. Yarrison will explore the ethical challenges DCD presents
by exploring such questions as “Are DCD donors really dead?” and “Can
conflicts of commitment between the best interests of the donor and the best
interests of the recipient be managed ethically?” as well as discussing
possible solutions to those ethical challenges. Women's Club ScholarshipThe University of Kentucky Woman’s Club
Scholarship was established to provide financial support to non-traditional
students. A scholarship covering tuition at the resident rate will be
awarded during the 2012-2013 academic year. All applicants who meet
the eligibility requirements, as listed on the application, will be
forwarded to the Scholarship Committee, which will select the recipient
according to the following criteria:
· Applicants must be in a degree program at the University of Kentucky as either a
full-time or part-time undergraduate student.
Preference will be given to female candidates. For additional information concerning the UK Woman’s
Club Scholarship and a link to the application, please visit
