If you have any questions please contact Leslie Simpson. Back to TopCHS Chili Cook-offIt's time for the Annual Chili Cook-Off, sponsored by Staff Council. The event will take place on Monday, Feb. 13 in the Commons from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. All faculty & staff are invited to attend and to participate by entering their "prize winning" chili into the competition. Each attendee will rate his or her favorite chili and the winner will receive a prize. If you would like to enter your chili please contact Kristie Bruner by Thursday, Feb. 9. Back to TopAwardsCongratulations to Pat McKeon, PhD, ATA for receiving the 2012 New Investigator Award from the National Athletic Trainers' Association Research & Education Foundation. This award recognizes Dr. McKeon, while early in his research career, for having an outstanding track record and likely to continue to make significant contributions to the athletic training body of knowledge. Dr. McKeon will be further recognized during the Distinguished Scholars Presentation at the NATA Annual Meeting in June. Congratulations to Brian Noehren, PT,
PhD who recently received the Excellence in Research Award presented by the
Sports Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. He is
recognized for a research project, supported by an internal CHS
grant, on impact loading and forces in females after ACL reconstruction. As a result of this award, Dr. Noehren has been invited to present his
research at the APTA Combined Sections Meeting next week in Chicago. Congratulations to Chris Waters Banker, MS, ATC, Doctoral Student and Johanna Hoch, MS, ATC, Doctoral Student who were both named a University of Florida Neuromuscular Plasticity Scholar. Both will present a poster at the Annual Neuromuscular Plasticity Symposium which is attended by both clinical and basic science students, physical therapy students, post-doctoral fellows and University of Florida faculty. Back to TopAED & CPR Classes - Open to Faculty & StaffDo you want to be prepared in a medical emergency? Has your CPR/AED certification run out? Well, you are in luck! The College of Health Sciences is offering CPR and AED training on the following dates & times: Monday, February 27 at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 28 at 8:00 a.m., and Friday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m.. All three trainings will be held in the Commons room. This training is being taught by Marcy Thobaben of Bluegrass Health & Safety. Each training session is approximately 3 hours long. Community Building component is proud to announce the 2012 Black History
Month Collaborative. This group of students, organizations,
and academic partners has worked diligently to ensure a cohesive schedule of
cultural events, lectures, and more will be offered during the month of
February. The goal of the BHM Collaborative is to promote a community
celebration that provokes thought through innovative educational
opportunities that specifically pertain to history and culture of the
African Diaspora. DE&CB aspires to provide a unified front for
nationally recognized cultural awareness months, and an opportunity to
cultivate new traditions and opportunities for appreciation of cultural and
