Back to TopAwardsCongratulations to Terry Malone, Ed.D., PT, ATC, FAPTA, for receiving the Sports Physical Therapy Section of the American Physical Therapy Association's (APTA) Lifetime Excellence in Education Award. Terry has made an important impact in contributing to the education of entry-level students and post-professional physical therapists for many years. Susan Effgen, Ph.D., PT, will be presenting the third annual Susan Effgen Advocacy Award that honors a member of the APTA Section on Pediatrics who has made an outstanding contribution to pediatric physical therapy, including leadership in the areas of advocacy and government affairs at the regional, state, or national level. This was originally awarded to Susan Effgen to honor her for her outstanding work in advocacy for children throughout her career. She carries on the tradition of advocating for those who can't advocate for themselves by presenting this award at the annual winter meeting. The College of Health Sciences is offering CPR and AED training on the following dates & times: Monday, February 27 at 8:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 28 at 8:00 a.m., and Friday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m.. All three trainings will be held in the Commons room. This training is being taught by Marcy Thobaben of Bluegrass Health & Safety. Each training session is approximately 3 hours long. Back to TopWelcome Natasha MamarilPlease welcome Natasha Mamaril, a graduate
student who will be assisting part-time with the duties of the Director of
Assessment while Rena Murphy Keath is on leave. Natasha is also employed as
the graduate assistant in the UK Office of Institutional Research, Planning
and Effectiveness (IRPE), Office of Assessment. We are fortunate to have an
individual with Natasha's experience and expertise in assessment working
with us. We expect Natasha to be with us until mid-May
when Rena is scheduled to return. Her planned office hours are 8-12 on most
Tuesdays and Thursdays, and she will be located in Rena's office. Natasha's
office phone is 218-0562, and her email address is
tashmamaril@uky.edu.
Natasha's primary assignment is to work with the
assessment liaisons for each academic program to complete the student
learning improvement action plans due at the end of May. Toward that end,
she will be in contact with the liaisons in the near future. She will also
assist in collecting and analyzing data for the CHS strategic plan, fulfill
additional requests for reports requested by central administration and
represent our college in campus-wide meetings. February is Black History MonthThe University of Kentucky’s Diversity Education &
Community Building component is proud to announce the 2012 Black History
Month Collaborative. This group of students, organizations,
and academic partners has worked diligently to ensure a cohesive schedule of
cultural events, lectures, and more will be offered during the month of
February. The goal of the BHM Collaborative is to promote a community
celebration that provokes thought through innovative educational
opportunities that specifically pertain to history and culture of the
African Diaspora. DE&CB aspires to provide a unified front for
nationally recognized cultural awareness months, and an opportunity to
cultivate new traditions and opportunities for appreciation of cultural and
