Click on the gray bar labeled Faculty Performance Review to find all materials needed for this year’s process. • October 15 - Final date for faculty member to submit requests to Chairs for input from individuals outside the unit as appropriate (e.g., supervisor for those in clinical practice). Requests should include the name, email address, and postal address of the source(s) so that the Chair may seek input from these individuals by letter.

The CHS Research Grantsmanship Program, presented at the 9/28 College
Meeting as effective immediately, is off to a great start! The first
meeting will be held on Friday, October 26th from
12:00 p.m. -1:00 p.m. in CTW 411 during which Athletic Training’s Dr.
Jen McKeon will present. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30th
from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (CTW 411) with Clinical Nutrition’s Dr. Travis
Thomas as presenter. Faculty are welcome to contact
Cynthia Byars to
schedule when they prefer to present their specific aims.

2012 Education Innovation SummitThe University
Senate Council announces two open
forums to give faculty the opportunity to voice thoughts on how the first
and anticipated second round of budget cuts have or
will impact the University’s academic mission. These
forums will take place as follows: The University of
Kentucky College of Education invites you and your colleagues to attend the
2012 Education Innovation Summit, a professional gathering co-sponsored by
AdvancED Kentucky focused on creative ideas, research and innovation to help
transform P-12 and higher education in Kentucky, on November 29-30, 2012, at
the Lexington Convention Center. This year’s theme is Local Focus…Global
Impact, focusing on developing a deeper understanding of how to narrow the
global achievement gap and better prepare our students for a highly competitive
and challenging future. Among the featured
speakers is Tony Wagner. Dr. Wagner’s interactive presentation will draw from
his two most recent books, Creating Innovators: The Making of Young
People Who Will Change The World, and The Global Achievement Gap: Why
Even Our Best Schools Don’t Teach the New Survival Skills Our Children
Need—and What We Can Do About It. Global and local business and P-12 and
higher education leaders will participate, including UK President Eli
Capilouto; Gene Wilhoit, Executive Director, Council of Chief State School
Officers; Ron Townsend, Executive Vice President of Battelle’s Global
Laboratory Operations; Herb Miller, President, Columbia Gas; Bob Quick,
President and CEO, Commerce Lexington, as well as over 100 school leaders
from the Kentucky P20 Innovation Lab’s Next Generation Leadership Academy,
who work daily to create innovative learning environments for all students
to succeed in school, college and life. The Summit will
launch new and innovative programs and standards such as Kentucky STEMx
Network and the Next Generation for Civic Readiness - The State Standards
for Social Studies, as well as concluding the Summit with an Education IDEA
Festival led by Kris Kimel, President, Kentucky Science and Technology
Corporation, and other entrepreneurs. 10th Annual Down Syndrome Association of Central KY Buddy WalkJoin us at the 10th Annual Down Syndrome Association of Central Kentucky’s (DSACK) Buddy Walk at the Thoroughbred Center on October 6th, 2012! DSACK celebrates that ALL people are beautiful, capable, and loved! We exist to celebrate our Down Syndrome Community, support individuals in Central KY with Down syndrome as well as their families, educate the Central KY community about Down Syndrome and assist in local and national research efforts. DSACK is a non-profit volunteer organization comprised of families and professionals who are interested in bettering the lives of people with Down syndrome, and helping them to realize their life aspirations. DSACK’s ultimate goal is to provide support, resources, and opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. If you would like to celebrate that all people are beautiful, capable and loved please see the link below to get signed up to volunteer for our 10th Annual Buddy Walk.
