Take advantage of occasions to skip  using paper entirely. Don’t automatically hit the print button on your computer. Send out party invitations by e-mail. Think how much paper, postage and effort you’ll save!

Faculty Information Session on Teaching Abroad

Start planning now for next summer! Education Abroad will be hosting an information session for UK faculty on teaching abroad opportunities. The focus of the information session is to introduce UK faculty to Education Abroad at UK and to provide a venue to explore the range of faculty-led international education programming. As a special bonus, the executive director of the Kentucky Institute for International Studies (KIIS) will be present to introduce teaching opportunities available through KIIS. With KIIS and other opportunities, faculty compensation and expenses are typically included and programs may be facilitated at many times during the academic year, including winter intersession.

Ambassador Retreat

The CHS Ambassadors will be attending a retreat August 27-28 in Monticello, KY. They will be taking part in team-building, problem-solving, and relationship-fostering exercises. Faculty and staff are invited to join the group for dinner on Saturday evening. If you are interested in participating, please see Wayne Centers.

Dr. Gilson Capilouto tapped as Acting Associate Dean for Academic Affairs

Dr. Gilson Capilouto has accepted the position of part-time Acting Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The scope of her activities will include responsibility for various faculty development initiatives and assistance with selected academic issues.

DPT Student Events

The DPT students are busy fundraising for their class and for Samaritan's Touch Free PT Clinic.  They've asked to share the following activities with faculty and staff:

  • The DPT Class of 2012 are selling unique UKPT shirts, sweatshirts, polos, totes, mugs, and lanyards.  They also have non-PT designs for your friends and family. 

    To view the options, visit:  Orders must be received by Friday, September 2, 2011.
  • The UK DPT Class of 2012 will also be hosting the13th Annual Run For Your Life 5k run/walk on October 8, 2011.  The event starts and ends at Commonwealth Stadium at 9 a.m.

    The cost to run is $15 if you sign up before Sept. 30 and $20 after that date.

    Registration fee includes a race t-shirt and post-race party activities. Proceeds go to benefit the Class of 2012 and the Samaritan's Touch free physical therapy clinic.

  • The DPT Class of 2013 is also busy planning events.  They will be hosting the first "Bags for Boards" Cornhole tournament on October 1, 2011 at Haggin Field. The tournament begins at 10:30 a.m. and is limited to 40 teams.   

    Tournament proceeds benefit Samaritan's Touch free PT clinic and the Class of 2013.
