Charlotte Peterson Awarded Fellow Status with GSACongratulations to Dr. Charlotte Peterson who was recently awarded Fellow status with the Gerontological Society of America (GSA), through the Biological Sciences Section. This GSA fellowship is the highest class of membership and an acknowledges Dr. Peterson’s exceptional work in the field of gerontology. Back to TopBrian Noehren Awarded APTA GrantCongratulations to Dr. Brian Noehren, who recently received an award from Orthopaedic Section, APTA Inc. for his project entitled “Defining muscular weakness and gait alterations in chronic patellofemoral instability.” This is a two year grant in which Dr. Noehren will collaborate with College of Medicine’s Christian Lattermann, MD. Back to TopUK Awarded $20m NIH GrantCongratulations to Dr. Charlotte Peterson, a key function leader for the grant in her role as Director of Pilot Studies, as well as Dr. Carl Mattacola, Dr. Tim Uhl and all who were involved in the processes to help UK receive a $20 million grant from the National Institutes of Health’s Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) program. Read more about the announcement below: Back to TopScott Livingston Presentation at APTAScott Livingston presented at last week’s American Physical Therapy Association annual meeting in National Harbor, Maryland. His presentation was on the topic of concussions and the dangers, as well as frequency, of Mild Traumatic Brain Injury among athletes at all competition levels. Read more about the presentation here. Back to TopCLS Name Change to MLSRevisions to the Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLS) curriculum and program name were provisionally approved in May. The CLS program will now be referred to as Medical Laboratory Science (MLS). Back to TopElectronic IAF Available Effective July 1A web based version of the Internal Approval Form that will allow routing via workflow and electronic signatures will be available university wide beginning July 1. Training classes are every Tuesday at 3 p.m. and Friday at 9 a.m. beginning June 14 – August 5. The session normally lasts about an hour. These training sessions are open to everyone – no need to register. All training sessions will be held in Room B35 (in the basement) of Young Library. In order to ensure a successful campus-wide implementation, it is asked that faculty and staff inform their College Grants Officer (Nan Rice for the College of Health Sciences) of any unexpected changes in funding or courses of research, especially during the summer months. With everyone’s cooperation and support, the new e-IAF process will hopefully reduce the administrative burden on our researchers and staff. This conference is designed to review current practices in the prevention, recognition of concussions, and management of sport-related concussions.
