Awards Reception & Mother’s Day Brunch This Sunday

All faculty and staff are invited to attend an Awards Reception and Mother’s Day Brunch in honor of our student and faculty award winners. Please note that this event is not open to all students – only award recipients, graduating ambassadors, faculty, staff and board members have been invited.

This event will take place immediately following the university’s morning Commencement Ceremony at the Hyatt Regency Hotel’s Regency Ballroom.

Sarah Campbell Receives ASHA Award

Congratulations to Sarah Campbell, who recently received the Award for Continuing Education (ACE) from the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

The ACE is a formal recognition of professionals who have demonstrated their commitment to lifelong learning by earning 7.0 CEUs (70 contact hours) within a 36-month period.

Kleinert Publication in Journal of Special Education

Congratulations to Dr. Jane Kleinert for her recently published article in the Journal of Special Education, titled “Characteristics of and Implications for Students Participating in Alternate Assessments Based on Alternate Academic Achievement Standards.”

New Staff Member to Join PA Program at Morehead Campus

Julia Flannery will join us on July 1, 2011 as the Senior Education Services Assistant at the PA program’s Morehead campus.

Julia’s responsibilities will include program development and recruitment, student services, as well as staff supervision and office management. She is currently employed by the Northeast AHEC where she has extensive experience in providing student services and health education programs.

Staff Council Nominations

Three current staff council member’s terms will end on June 30, 2011. Therefore, nominations for staff members to fill these vacant spots are now being accepted.

Download the nomination ballot linked below, which lists all eligible staff and place a mark in the box next to the individual(s) names you would like to nominate for the positions.

Each staff member is allowed to select three people and self-nominations are allowed. Please note that this a 3-year term and all staff council members must be full time employees of the College.

Medical Center AV Library Move & Summer Schedule

The Medical Center AudioVisual Library (6th floor, College of Nursing Building) will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 6. On Monday, May 9, the AV collection will be relocated to the Medical Center Library. For all Medical Center AV library-related questions, contact the Medical Center Library User Services Desk, 323-5300 or Bev Hilton, 323-8008.

Student Computing Services (Nursing Computer Classroom and Lab) and study room availability will continue. The summer schedule for these services follows below:

Monday – Friday	7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Saturday – Sunday	Closed
Additional Closings	Memorial Day (Monday, May 30) Independence Day (Monday, July 4)

Rita Tobin, Senior AV Technician, available at 323-6572 or rtobin@email.uky.edu, will be relocating to the MC Library also. Her desk will be located in the Medical Center Library office behind the User Services Desk. Please continue to contact Rita in order to place your AV items on reserve as well as to request AV previews from producer/distributors and to request AV Interlibrary Loans.

Reds Tickets for Sale

The Ambassadors are selling tickets to the August 8 (Monday) Reds vs. Rockies game in Cincinnati as a fundraiser. The game begins at 7:10 p.m.

The tickets are limited in amount, so those interested should act now. Price details are listed below:

• 10 tickets are for the sun/moon deck. $20 each (regular price is $25)
• 20 tickets are for the infield box. $35 each (normally $45)

If you plan to purchase a ticket and are also interested in bus transportation for the group attending, please mention your interest at time of purchase so that this option can be looked into further.
