Pat Field’s PassingFor those who are unaware, Pat Field, a former staff member in the Physician Assistant Studies program who retired last year, passed away on Monday, April 4. Back to TopDoctoral Student Receives Research GrantCongratulations to Joanna Hoch, a student in the Rehabilitation Sciences Doctoral Program, who was recently awarded a $5,000 research grant from the American College of Sports Medicine. Several faculty members in the college are involved in the grant, as detailed below: Hoch JM, Mattacola CG, McKeon JM, Bush HM, Hewett TE, Gonzalez LS, Lattermann C. Serum COMP: a biomarker for acute articular cartilage damage. American College of Sports Medicine; Doctoral Student Research Grant. Funded: $5,000.00. Back to TopAlzheimer’s Research Funding for Pilot WorkThe Sanders-Brown Center on Aging is a National Institute on Aging-funded Alzheimer’s Disease Center (ADC). As an ADC our responsibility is to pursue research to further our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The ADC is soliciting pilot grant applications focused on dynamic basic and clinical science studies of AD. Each of the awards is intended to provide seed funding that will facilitate the initial testing of novel hypotheses and lead to national-level funding of an expanded research plan based on the pilot work. Back to TopFaculty Training Offered for Digital Measures SoftwareThe College of Health Sciences will be offering trainings for all faculty members to learn how to use the Digital Measures software. Digital Measures is a faculty productivity software this software is replacing the former UK Faculty Productivity Database and was used to generate the Faculty Performance Review Reports (FPRRs) used in the performance review process this past fall. It is important for all faculty members to know how to use the system since all future performance review reports will be generated using this software. The honor or award should be in recognition of research or all mission areas, but not for teaching, advising or service only; the emphasis is research. All faculty fellows should be included in the list as well.
