Kevin Schuer, PA-C, MPHAssistant Professor, Physician Assistant Studies
Kevin Schuer is a man of many passions. He’s passionate about his family, his music, and his career in health care, but most of all, he’s passionate about passing on knowledge to a new generation of Physician Assistant Studies students. Kevin is a 2007 graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences Physician Assistant Studies program. He received his undergraduate degree in biology from UK in 1998 and also holds a Masters of Public Health from the university. After spending a year in an academic fellowship with the Lexington VA Medical Center, Kevin joined the faculty of the Physician Assistant Studies program. During his fellowship, he concentrated on the quality and safety aspects of health care. Now, Kevin will be passing on his knowledge to students. He will be working through the UK Center for Enterprise Quality and Safety (CEQS) to introduce a quality and safety component into the curriculum of all six medical colleges. “One of the goals of the CEQS is to continually educate students, faculty, professionals and the general public about the importance of quality and safety in health care,” Kevin said. “It’s an exciting time to be associated with UK Health Care, the College of Health Sciences and the CEQS, and I look forward to the many opportunities we have here at UK to be leaders in this area of Quality and Patient Safety.” In addition to his busy professional schedule, Kevin is also a songwriter, singer and guitar player with a local band called “Funk Seminary.” While an undergraduate student at UK, Kevin and his brother started a band called “The Schuers,” which is well-known throughout the area. Kevin and his wife Sara, a special education teacher, have three children. He also enjoys golfing.
