DeShana Collett, MSPAS, PA-CAssistant Professor, Division of Physician Assistant StudiesBiographyDeShana Collett received her BS in Biology from the University of Kentucky in 2000 and her Masters of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Kentucky in 2003. She joined our program in January of 2008 and assumed the role as Admission’s Director in the Fall of 2010. Mrs. Collett is currently a Ph.D.-doctoral candidate in Educational Policy Studies and Procedures in Higher Education at the University of Kentucky. Educational InterestMrs. Collett is the primary course director for several courses in the didactic and clinical curriculum. Those courses include Clinical Lecture Series, Family Medicine, Women’s Health and Selective clinical clerkships. Her scholarly interest is in the area of Women’s Health, Pediatrics, Cultural Competency and Health Disparities. She is involved in KAPA and AAPA, with a heavy interest in key legislative issues that affect PA’s. Clinical ExperienceAs a certified physician assistant, she has experience in Physical Medicine / Rehabilitation and Orthopedics, Urgent Care and Family Medicine. She currently works in a local Family Medicine practice. PersonalMrs. Collett is married with 3 children. She is involved in the local soccer community. She also enjoys music, baseball, basketball, soccer and relaxation.
