The following web links provide information related to cultural competence or diversity. Several allied health professional associations have links related to cultural issues.
All health sciences professionals should be familiar with the Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Standards for Health Care. These standards provide mandates and recommendations for health care organizations. This is a “must read” for all students and faculty in the College of Health Sciences.
Engaging Differences Project. The website states: “The Engaging Differences project is focused on enhancing the quality of education and services provided to postsecondary students with disabilities on the University of Kentucky and Lexington Community College campuses.”
DiversityWeb is one of the most comprehensive sites for resources dealing with diversity issues in higher education. It provides information on innovations and research as well as periodical called Diversity Digest.
The Center for Research on Learning and Teaching at the University of Michigan has a listing of multicultural resources to improved teaching.
