Story Simulations

Each case is presented as a story where small groups of 3 to 4 students interact with each other and the story characters' and their predicaments. Each case develops from the pre-event circumstances that lead to the injury event, to the injury event itself, and the post-event injury consequences. All simulations can now be accessed through the following online data collection tool, Otisonline.org. For instructions on accessing the materials via otisonline.org, follow this link. Interactive Cost Tools help students to conduct an economic cost analysis (medical and non-medical, direct and indirect) of the injury event depicted, as well as a cost-effectiveness analysis of actions that could prevent the injury. The Cost Tool continues the story from an economic analysis perspective. It uses graphic displays of data and links to web sites such as hearing loss and farming equipment noise and decibel level simulators.
