What is facial plastic and reconstructive surgery?

Facial plastic and reconstructive surgery involves both surgical and nonsurgical options to improve the appearance of your face. Reconstructive plastic surgery repairs your face after an injury or illness or fixes an ongoing condition. It includes everything from procedures to improve nasal breathing to treatments that correct defects caused by trauma, skin cancer and other serious conditions. Aesthetic or cosmetic facial plastic surgery includes treatments and procedures that help counter the effects of aging or that simply change something that you may not like about your face.
