Resident Program Handbook

 

THE DIDACTIC COURSES CONSIST OF A TWO-YEAR CURRICULUM, REPEATED TWICE DURING RESIDENCY, WITH THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:

  • The Head and Neck Examination
  • Auditory and Vestibular Physiology
  • Laryngology
  • Audiometry
  • Otology
  • Temporal Bone Dissection
  • Rhinology
  • Head and Neck Oncology
  • Facial Plastic Surgery
  • Allergy
  • Speech Pathology
  • Bronchoesophagology
  • Maxillofacial Trauma
  • Pediatric Otolaryngology
  • Infections in Otolaryngology

Exams are given at the end of each section to monitor resident progress. In addition, each resident receives a home-study course from the American Academy of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery. This course is given in participation of the yearly In-Service Examination of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, which is required for advancement into the next year of training. These examinations are offered in preparation for the American Board of Otolaryngology written and oral examinations taken at the end of residency training.
