The College of Dentistry is quiet in the summer when our DMD students aren’t here, but that is all about to change.
On August 5, we welcomed the 67 members (34 men and 33 women) of the class of 2017 to the University of Kentucky. The class is composed of 40 Kentucky residents and 27 non-residents who come from 40 different colleges and universities. The college profile reveals a 3.46 cumulative grade point average (3.36 sciences GPA), an academic average on the DAT of 18.67 and a science average of 18.54. The college received applications from over 1700 prospective students seeking admission for the fall of 2013.
This week all 234 of our current DMD students come back to campus to kick off the 2013-14 academic year. Our 4th year students spent their summer in externships serving underserved populations across the country. Our 3rd year students had a busy summer studying and taking Part I of their national board exams, while our 2nd year students spent their summer being glad the first year of dental school is behind them!
We are looking forward to a great year, and the faculty and staff at the College are happy to welcome our students back to campus!
