RESEARCH IN PROGRESS

  1.  “Xenogenic Collagen Matrix to Increase the Zone of Attached Mucosa Around Implant”. The objective of this clinical prospective split-mouth study is to evaluate the efficacy of Collagen Matrix as an alternative to the Epithelialized Free Gingival Graft to increase the zone of attached mucosa around dental implants. In addition, the aesthetic outcomes and patient morbidity, and the safety of using CM will be assessed and compared to the free gingival graft (FGG).

  2. “Effect of Treatment of Gingivitis on Select Salivary Biomarkers Levels”. The purpose of this study is to determine whether levels of select inflammatory and connective tissue destructive biomarkers (interleukin-1 β [IL-1β], IL-6, matrix metalloproteinase-2 [MMP-2], matrix metalloproteinase-8 [MMP-8], macrophage inflammatory protein-1α (MIP-1α), and prostaglandin E2 [PGE2]) in whole saliva distinguish gingivitis before and after treatment.

  3. “Factors Influencing the Referral of Dental Implant Patients: the General Practitioner’s Perspective”. The purpose of this study is to determine which factors are considered important, from general dental practitioner’s (GP) perspective, in the selection of a specialist to refer the dental implant patients.

  4. “Bone Quality and Quantity in Extraction Socket Graft Using Amnion-Chorion Membrane”. The objective of this study is to evaluate the quality and quantity of the newly formed bone in the extraction socket using amnion-chorion membrane (BioXclude®) as a barrier.
