Orthodontics: What's New?
GORP: Graduate Orthodontic Resident Program
The orthodontic graduate students attended the Graduate Orthodontic Resident Program at the University of Michigan in August 2006. The program consisted of lectures and seminars directed to residents from world-renowned lecturers. Keynote speakers this year included Dr. Gerry Samson, Ms. Rosemary Bray, Dr. Dwight Damon. A favorite of the program was the annual t-shirt contest in which each school designs a shirt to be judged for prizes. This year the UK residents won the overall prize for best shirt of the forty-eight schools attending.

Specific attention was given to partial coverage appliances, and cases were presented demonstrate the impact of partial coverage appliances and their creation of anterior and posterior open bites. Recommendations for appliance therapies and TMD treatments were also offered. Cheryl and Joe's clinic was one of only nine awarded table clinic presentations at the meeting.
