AHEC Community Health Fair
(Feria de Salud)
Each year, the North Central Area Health Education Center (NC AHEC) graciously hosts UKCD dental students at their fall Northern Kentucky Hispanic Health Fair. Students assist in screening local hispanic participants' oral health and in identifying treatment needs.

Dental Spanish Classes
UKCD bilingual dental students, staff, and faculty volunteer to teach ten brief sections of dental Spanish to colleagues from the dental college and the nearby medical center. Taught during both the Fall and Spring semesters, ¡Abra la Boca! Powerpoint and PDF copies of the classes are available online. |

Clinic Interpreters
UKHDA seeks out and provides recognition for the outstanding bilingual student dentists, staff, and faculty that help our Hispanic patients with the language barrier. Though crucial for informed consent, the true value of assisting clinic patients understand oral healthcare issues is found in the obvious compassion and kindness of clinic personnel.

UK Spring Hispanic Health Fair
A joint collaboration between dental and medical colleges, the UK Spring Hispanic Health Fair provides a wide variety of educational and diagnostic services for the Hispanic community of the greater Lexington area. In early May, UKHDA staffs and provides dental supplies for a three-chair mobile dental clinic. |

Clínica Primavera
A dental clinic that complements the screening of the Spring Hispanic Health fair. Seeking to improve patient follow-up to the findings of the screening, UKHDA will sponsor a Saturday Clinic specifically for the patients seen during the health fair. |

HDA Annual Meeting
UKHDA--despite its relative youth--has been successful in sponsoring student travel and participation in HDA's annual meeting. Presentations have lauded the UKHDA's dental Spanish curriculum and have described the demographics of the Hispanic children participating in the UK Saturday Morning Clinic. |

Guest Lectures
UKHDA recruits guest lecturers for 'Almorzar y Aprenders' (Lunch & Learns). Though attending students and faculty are responsible for the aprender, UKHDA tries to pick up the tab for the almorzar. |
