The Campaign for a NEW Simulation Laboratory at the UK College of Dentistry

The last time a major renovation was completed in our infamous D-611 classroom, most of the class of dental students who will be entering the UK College of Dentistry in the fall of 2013 were in kindergarten.

With your support, this class and those for years to come will enjoy new, state-of-the-art simulators in a space that properly reflects the high standards of our college.

Many alumni have vivid memories of their time in this classroom and simulation lab. And now, you can leave your mark on this centerpiece of dental training at UK with a naming-level gift.

Naming Opportunities

Because we are financing the cost of the construction over four years, we are encouraging supporters to consider a four-year commitment to this project—to be given between now and June 30, 2016.

Individual donors to the D-611 renovation will be recognized in one of two ways:
• Donors of $10,000 or more will be recognized with an individual name plate attached prominently to one of the work stations.
• Donors of $4,000 or more will be recognized on a plaque which will hang inside the classroom/ laboratory.

What improvements are being made to the D-611 classroom and simulation lab?

Scheduled for completion in August 2013, the D-611 renovation will provide new state-of-the-art simulators for UK College of Dentistry students, as well as monitors at each workstation. The project will also include the refurbishing of the wet lab across the hall from D-611 and numerous other improvements in and around this classroom.

How is the renovation being funded?

The entire cost of this renovation is estimated at $4.7 million. The University has generously committed $1.3 million for a crucial replacement of the air handling unit in the Dentistry building.  Another $2.9 million will be provided through an interinstitutional loan from the President’s Office which will be paid back over time.  The remainder of the funding will need to come from private gifts, with a goal of $500,000 to be given by June 30, 2016. You can make a difference in the lives of future UK Dentistry students by contributing to this project.
