Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. (-posted Aug 26, 2009)

Associate Professor level or higher depending on individual’s qualifications and experience. This is a full-time tenure track faculty position at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.  The Associate Dean oversees broadly the curriculum, accreditation, and academic performance of the students and provides oversight for the Office of Admissions and Student Affairs.  The individual will oversee the academic programs and ensure that they are consistent with the College’s Strategic Plan and the national accreditation standards.  These programs include the pre-doctoral, post-graduate, and residency educational programs.  This position requires significant experience in curriculum design and implementation.  Prior leadership experience is desirable and experience with an academic health sciences institution is preferable. Oral Maxillofacial Surgery - Assistant Professor level or above (-posted June 1, 2009)

Currently we have a full-time tenure track faculty position in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry.  Candidates must have a DMD/DDS degree and an oral and maxillofacial surgery certificate from an institution accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation and qualify for a Kentucky dental license.  Individuals with an DMD/DDS and an MD with similar qualifications are also encouraged to apply. The John R. Mink Endowed Chair of Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Health Research

The College of Dentistry at the University of Kentucky is seeking an individual to serve as the John R. Mink Endowed Chair of Pediatric Dentistry and Oral Health Research. The selected individual will serve as Chief of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry. 

The College of Dentistry is a one of seventeen colleges of the University of Kentucky, including six health science colleges that comprise the Medical Center. The College admits 55 undergraduate students annually, and has a full time faculty of 70 individuals. The University of Kentucky is the flagship research, comprehensive, land-grant university of the Commonwealth of Kentucky with over 25,000 students participating in its undergraduate, graduate and professional degree programs located in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Division of Pediatric Dentistry maintains an innovative program of instruction for 220 pre-doctoral student dentists and accepts three residents annually into its hospital-based two year post-doctoral residency. A master of science (M.S.). degree is available for those who wish to pursue it. A degree in public health degree (M.P.H.) is also an option in a program spanning three years. The Division maintains an active research program and participates in a number of public service programs of the College.  

The successful candidate will be an individual with a documented record of scholarship and leadership in pediatric dentistry. Qualifications include completion of a post-doctoral program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation, and board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Responsibilities include pre-doctoral and post-doctoral instruction, both didactic and clinical; research; clinical care of patients; and administration and leadership of the Division.  Due to the College and Division’s commitment to improving the oral health of children in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, an individual with a background and/or commitment to public health is an important quality of the successful applicant.
