Angela Clark, RNC-OB, MSN
President,
Delta Psi Chapter, STTI
Fall greetings to all Delta Psi
members! As summer is coming to a close, there is a
welcome relief of fall with its cooler weather, changing
leaves and excitement of events like University of
Kentucky football and Keeneland. That’s the beauty of
the changing seasons in relation to our lives as
nurses—we have an opportunity to always change and
improve ourselves personally and professionally. The
board of Delta Psi welcomes involvement of all members
in order to have an active chapter dedicated to advance
nursing.
Hopefully members were able to
enjoy the “Out of the Gate” event held September 11,
2011 at Shilito Park. This meet and greet event was
designed to help both new and established members of
Delta Psi to have a time of fellowship and food while
finding out ways to get involved with the chapter! In
the future, this event will be announced at the Spring
Induction so that new members can plan in advance to be
at the annual fall event. Often people want to become
more involved but simply are not sure about how to
accomplish that goal. Hopefully this event will start
our school year and fall season off to a great start!
In order to keep members aware of
accomplishments of the chapter, please note that Delta
Psi will be receiving for the third time the 2011
Chapter Key Award from Sigma Theta Tau International at
the Biennial Convention located in Texas this October.
This is a major accomplishment as it awards the chapter
for the excellent work by our members to advance nursing
through research, excellent programs, membership
recruitment and retention, collaboration with other
nurses at the local, national and international level
and professional/leadership development. Thank you to
all members who helped to make this award possible for
the chapter!
The chapter also wants to recognize that our own Dr.
Suzanne Prevost was recognized as STTI’s
President in November. We are so
fortunate to have her as a Delta Psi member and want to
congratulate her on this great honor!
This year will be filled with opportunities for chapter
members to come together for times of fellowship,
collaboration and learning at chapter programs. Please
remember to check your email for invitations to our
various programs and Spring induction ceremony! I look
forward to working with the other board members to help
our chapter continue to shine!
