Communication Sciences and DisordersAdmissions and AdvisingDear Prospective
Graduate Student; Thank you for your
interest in the University of Kentucky Communication Disorders Program.
You are very important to us and we look forward to receiving your
application. Applications are received through the Council of Academic
Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders Centralized Application
Service for Clinical Education in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology
(CSDCAS). The Centralized Application Service provides a convenient and
efficient process to apply to multiple schools using a single web-based
application. The system provides a real-time status tool so applicants may
check the status of their application, transcripts, and letters of reference
online at any time. You can log onto a secure site at
https://portal.csdcas.org to fill out a common application
which will be sent to each school that you apply to. Please note
that at the University of Kentucky we have a dual application process: 1.)
You must submit one application through CSDCAS to the Division of
Communication Disorders and 2.) one application to the UK Graduate School.
The Graduate School application may be accessed on line at
http://www.rgs.uky.edu/gs/ The deadline for
admission to the Graduate Program is January 15th. If you
already have an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology
you will begin your graduate studies in the 8-week summer session (please do
not apply for the “4-week summer session”.). When filling out your
application, please check “Summer” (Summer is listed as “8 week session”)
and indicate the same on the Graduate School application. If you do
not have an undergraduate degree in speech-language pathology or you
have not completed required “prerequisite courses” for the graduate program,
you will begin your graduate studies in the Fall. When filling out
your application, please check “Fall” and indicate the same on the Graduate
School application. You should know that
our curriculum requires two full calendar years (6 semesters) to complete
and typically begins with the summer term. If you do not have an
undergraduate degree in communication disorders, your program will
take three full calendar years (8 semesters) to complete. We require (2)
references from people who can attest to your professional performance and
provide an estimate of your ability to complete graduate study. Call
us at (859) 218-0472 if you have questions regarding the graduate program or
application process. Information about
financial assistance can be obtained through the University of Kentucky
Office of Student Financial Aid. In order to learn more about
financial aid, you must contact the financial aid office directly.
Please remember: In order to be considered for our program, you
must complete an application through CSDCAS
https://portal.csdcas.org and an additional application
to the University of Kentucky Graduate School @
http://www.rgs.uky.edu/gs/
An official graduate record examination score (GRE) and official copies of
all prior transcripts should be sent to the UK Graduate School as well.
If you would like to learn with us in Lexington and develop the skills and
competency required of a speech-language pathologist, we welcome your
application. Sincerely, Jodelle Deem
