Communication Sciences and DisordersAdmissions and AdvisingUndergraduate ProgramAdmission Criteria and CompetitivenessAdmission is based on cumulative university grade-point average (GPA), ACT or SAT score, letters of recommendation, and the student's letter of application. The Division of Communication Disorders typically accepts 25 junior level and 5 pre-requisite students per year. It is estimated that students will need to have at least 3.0 overall GPA to be considered for admission. Advising InformationAdvising for lower division and transfer students not yet admitted to the program is conducted by the Office of Student Affairs. Students with questions regarding transferring, University Studies Requirements, and the application process may come in to the Office of Student Affairs and talk with the advisor. Advising for students admitted to the Communication Disorders Program is conducted by CD Faculty Members at 900 South Limestone Street. Please phone for an appointment at (859) 323-1100, ext. 80493. Graduate ProgramAdmission DeadlineWhile applications to the Graduate Program will be considered at any time prior to the beginning of the Summer term, priority is given to those completed applications received before February 1. The UK Graduate Program in Communication Disorders admits students only in the 8 week Summer term. Graduate Assistantship InformationAssistantships, scholarships, and financial support may be available from either the UK Graduate School or from the Program in Communication Disorders. Financial support is limited and may occasionally be available to highly qualified applicants. All incoming graduate students are automatically considered for any graduate assistantship support that may be available from the Program in Communication Disorders - no separate application is necessary. You will be notified by the Director of Graduate Studies if you are awarded financial support. Also, be sure to check the UK Graduate School Website for assistantships and support funding that may be available separately from the UK Graduate School. Kentucky Graduate ScholarshipsGraduate students who are not residents of Kentucky are eligible for Kentucky Graduate Scholarships. These scholarships allow a non-resident student to attend the University of Kentucky at the in-state tuition rate, a savings of approximately $7000 per full-time academic year based on 2004-2005 tuition levels. These scholarships are available to all new non-resident students. All non-resident applicants for admission to the University of Kentucky Graduate School will be automatically considered for this award; no separate scholarship application is required. The Kentucky Graduate Scholarship is renewable through the completion of all degree requirements for students who remain in good academic standing.
