• Senior scientist/surgeon position funded by NIH and supported by institutional resources at the University of Kentucky. The investigator would work in a highly interactive team with projects focused on cardiac hypertrophy, repair, dysynchrony, and vascular injury responses, using advanced imaging technologies (cardiac MRI, ultrasound, and CT).
  Requirements: Applicants must hold MD, DVM, PhD or equivalent degree with surgical experience in small animal models of cardiovascular disease. Qualified candidates will be highly motivated with the ability to work independently and must have very good analytical, oral and written communication skills. The right candidate will have opportunities for career advancement to faculty level positions.

• A laboratory technician position in the Ahmed Abdel-Latif laboratory is available in the Saha Cardiovascular Research Center to investigate molecular pathways responsible for heart failure. Performs routine scientific tasks under close supervision or from detailed and controlled lab procedures. May gather and/or maintain specific records of scientific data and may perform routine analysis. May prepare culture media, solutions, and reagents. May set up, operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment for routine tests. The techniques that this position requires include flow, cytometry, real-time RT-PcR, work with animal models, electrophoresis, immunoblotting, cell culture and genotyping.
