Dr. Yepes received his DDS degree from the Xaveriana Pontifical University, College of Dentistry, (Bogotá, Colombia) in 1992 and his MD degree from the same university, College of Medicine in 1998. He was an Assistant professor in Oral Medicine and Oral Diagnosis in the College of Dentistry during all his training in medicine. After practicing Dentistry and Family Medicine for 2 years, he attended the University of Iowa and the University of Pennsylvania where he completed a fellowship and residency in Oral Radiology and Oral Medicine in 2004. He then joined the faculty at the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry in the Department of Oral Diagnosis, Oral Medicine and Oral Radiology. He is currently an Assistant Professor.

Dr. Yepes is an active member of the American Academy of Oral medicine, American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, American Medical Association and American Dental Association. His teaching, research and practice interests are in the areas of oral radiology, medically compromised patients, Dry Mouth, Burning Mouth Syndrome and orofacial pain. He is currently also a graduate student in the College of Public Health where he is planning to complete his Master Degree in Public Health with emphasis in Epidemiology.
