The pre-professional program consists of (1) courses that fulfill the University Studies Program and (2) pre-requisite courses required by the CLS program. The University Studies Program (USP) is a program of required subjects that all students of the University of Kentucky must complete in order to receive a baccalaureate degree. Please refer to the most current University of Kentucky Undergraduate Bulletin for coursework which meets requirements of the University Studies Program.

Pre-requisite courses that are required for the CLS undergraduate program are:

  • 2 semesters general chemistry with lab
  • 1 semester general microbiology with lab
  • 1 semester human anatomy/physiology
  • 1 semester quantitative statistics
  • 1 semester biochemistry (CLS 822 may be taken to meet the requirement)
  • 1 semester immunology (CLS 835 may be taken to meet the requirement)

Please review the sample semester-by-semester schedule for the completion of pre-professional requirements. The official program description and requirements can be found in the University of Kentucky Bulletin.
